What determines the price of a zip screen?

1. Vertical or roof?

A vertical zip screen in front of windows, balconies and terraces (Zipline Neo) and a roof zip screen over glass roofs, winter gardens and pergolas (Zipline Sky-S) are different systems. Because the roof screen works horizontally and on slopes, it uses a larger box (170 × 150 mm), heavier side guides and a spring-tensioned bottom bar, so the same area needs more material.

2. Size

Fabric, guides and bottom bar grow with size, and size also decides the box. The largest single screen depends on the system; openings beyond these limits are divided into several screens, and each section means its own box, guides and motor.

3. Box

Zipline Neo comes with 110 mm (Soft, Sharp, Wave) and 130 mm (Sharp) boxes. The 110 mm boxes are enough for most openings up to 4 m high; for the widest and tallest screens the roll diameter grows, so the 130 Sharp is chosen. Soft, Sharp and Wave differ only in the shape of the box front, so the choice is about looks.

4. Fabric

Ferrini zip screens use Copaco and Serge Ferrari screen fabrics made for outdoor use. The type and colour of the fabric decide both the look and the solar control; the roof screen also has a waterproof fabric option for rain. See the fabric swatch book for colours.

5. Motor and controls

Zipline Neo can be operated in six ways: remote control, wall switch, smart home system, crank handle, chain system and manual hand control. In motorised systems the tubular motor is hidden inside the box, and wind and sun sensors can be added. The Sky-S roof screen is motorised. Motors, controls and sensors are added to a quote per unit.

6. Colour

Box, guides and bottom bar can be powder-coated in any RAL colour or finished with wood-effect transfer coating; if you wish, the profile colour is matched to the fabric. If you want a specific RAL to suit your facade, say so at the quotation stage.

7. Installation conditions

Installation is planned around what the authorised dealer sees on the survey: whether the screen is fixed to a wall, a ceiling or a pergola profile, access to the facade and the power supply for a motorised system. Zip screens can also be retrofitted to existing buildings.

How is a quote prepared?

Ferrini manufactures zip screens to measure at its İzmir facilities and ships them to authorised dealers as knock-down systems; measuring, survey and installation are done by the dealer. The final price is therefore settled after the dealer's survey. Having the following ready speeds things up:

• Number of screens and their approximate widths and heights
• Where they go: window, balcony, terrace, glass roof or pergola
