What is a bioclimatic pergola?
A motorised outdoor system whose movable aluminium roof blades control sunlight, shade and natural ventilation. With the blades closed it forms a protective roof against rain.
What is the difference between a bioclimatic and a conventional pergola?
A conventional pergola has a fixed roof (glass, polycarbonate or fabric). In a bioclimatic pergola the aluminium louvres rotate by motor: closed they keep the rain out, open they let in sun and air, and at intermediate angles you decide how much shade you want.
Can the sides of the pergola be closed?
Yes. BioFlex Harmony is designed together with Albert Genau guillotine, sliding and folding glass systems, creating enclosed areas that cafés and restaurants can use in winter too.
How does BioFlex Harmony work?
It runs on a single motor with remote control; the scissor mechanism opens and closes the blades in sync and stops them at the level you want.
Can it be used in the rain?
Yes. With the blades closed, rainwater drains in a controlled way through the integrated gutters and columns; the system has been tested under continuous heavy rain of 108 l/m²/h.
Can the roof open completely?
Yes. The blades gather to open the roof area, and can also be positioned at different angles for sun control and ventilation.

Aluminium surfaces are cleaned regularly with suitable products; checking the gutters, leaf catchers and drainage channels periodically keeps the system working for a long time.

System components are covered by Albert Genau's manufacturer warranty; the warranty period for motor, lighting and optional components depends on the configuration.
