Our vertical zip screen Zipline Neo was tested in the wind tunnel of the Middle East Technical University Center for Wind Energy Research (METU RÜZGEM) and withstood a wind speed of 172 km/h, an industry record.
The test was carried out in the wind tunnel of METU RÜZGEM (METUWIND); the results are in report RUZGEM-2022-ER041, dated 9 February 2023. In a wind tunnel the product sits in an enclosed test section and is exposed to a controlled, measurable airflow, so high wind speeds can be tested safely without waiting for them on site.

In meteorology, wind of 118 km/h and above is classed as force 12 (hurricane), the top of the Beaufort scale; 172 km/h is well beyond that threshold. The weak point of any outdoor blind is its edges: fabric with free edges flaps at high speed, can tear and strains the profiles. On Zipline Neo both edges of the fabric are locked into the side guides with a zip, while the weighted bottom bar and the plastic springs in the guides keep the fabric taut in every position.
For coastal homes, upper floors, exposed terraces and commercial spaces such as restaurants and cafés, wind resistance comes first when choosing a product. The test result documents that Zipline Neo can be considered with confidence for such projects.
A test result shows a resistance limit; it is not an instruction for use: we recommend retracting the screen when a storm is forecast. A wind sensor, available for motorised systems, does this automatically.
The test report is on our certificates page; Zipline Neo dimensions, box options and control types are on the vertical zip screen page.
